VIDEO: Welcome back to Sketchbook Time Machine, I’m Harper and today I’m inviting you to draw with me so we can tune up our creative thinking, drawing and illustration skills. I’ve got 7 drawing idea prompts that are guaranteed to test your imagination, melt your mind and possibly even break your brain…

Now I know that may sound like bombastic click bait, but honestly…

These are just really hard– the seventh one I’m not even going to attempt.

Okay, so here’s a couple things to remember: Your finished image doesn’t have to be completely literal, it can be an extrapolation of the idea. The drawing prompts are meant to be a starting point– let your mind explore the idea and see what you come up with.

But be prepared to explain how you got to your idea. What are the relationships between the drawing prompt and your final image? How did you get from point A to point B?

And if you make it through the first three drawing prompts with me, I’ve got a set of three more that are even harder at the end of the video, plus a secret seventh prompt that’s so hard it’ll make most artists pee their pants and cry. But enough talking, let’s get to it.
